Nice fusion of genres

I'd say I could hear a bit of acid in there as well, and the melodic lines go well together, and there is clearly j-pop influenced trance leads and some well planned metal riffs with it. The one thing that bugs me is the sample used for the metal guitar; if you had it multisampled (to lower pitch ranges) it would have sounded better. Also there needs to be a bit more diversity, adding sections of chorus and verses, maybe bridges in between them, and variations between verses and choruses, to add interest.

In your next song, I would definitely like to see more interesting works like this.

Erectronik (you reviewed me a long time ago, I'm just gettin back to returning the favour)

ArisingFlame responds:

Thanks. I'm going to replace the guitar soon... With my REAL guitar. Maybe it'll sound better... Unless it is me playing =\
I'll hit you back with a review =D

Very unique sound and quality

I don't know what to start with; the drum programming is extremely clever and the effects are well programmed, the reverse reverb effects fit nicely as well. It'd be great to see more works like this one.

LJCoffee responds:

Hey there -

I'm glad that you can see some potential in this loop. Sorry that it took a few days to respond - I wish there were a notification system of some sort that would let me know that I had new reviews on this stuff.

Thanks again!

Well written melody

This piece has an excellent melody, it grabs my attention and has a distinct feeling leaning towards a darker mood and tone. Although it is mostly parallel polyphonic(2), the melody still keeps the song going, although a cello a lower bass instrument should compliment the piece to harmony. This song shows potential and ask if you would like to do a collab with me if you are using Reason 3.0, and check out my song "Destroying Heaven"

Injected-Reality responds:

Im still using FL Demo sooo yeah i cant collab yet

Sick track!

I like this track, it comes in with a wicked distorted and filtered intro, and then you drop in some sick breakbeat techno beat! Love it XD! Suggestions for the section where you used strings: increase the attack and relase of the strings, and add a slight reverb + delay. Also lower the volume of the strings, because they overwhelm the underlying synth which I like, and feel it should come out more, and will make that section less repetitive. Also add a compressor on to the snares to give it more "punch" and "oomph"

Erectronik - You review me, me review you :)

DaSmith responds:

10x again for the review. I'll check out your work, promise. But unfortunately the answer is the same like the one given to Voyd. Maybe I'll try to fix it one day but I think it'll take a lot of time. Actually I uploaded this to see opinions for it. I don't think I'll ever be able to be as patient as I have to be in order to fix the piece. Thanks again for the review. I'll check your stuff now.

Peace.

this track..

LOL are u serious?? 10 for originality :)

BlackPlastic responds:

LOL WTF OMG BBQ IM TEH SERIOUSNESS LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOL PM BANNED FOR MAKING FUN OF ME LOL JUST TEH KINDINGSNESS

Drum and bass??

I think this is in a wrong genre entirely, you should check out the other Drum and Bass songs first next time, anyways, it seems to me that this song was assembled entirely on loops. the thing is, I would add some maniacal tribal shouting, yelling, stabbing, spearing :p etc you get what I mean. The way some loops come in, it seems to random. I would also suggest adding some pads on top of the drums to add some richness and ambience to it.

aspachi responds:

well i just thought of loops is all for music of an indian tribe. be sure to check oout my audio and ill try to find some vocals and pads that will work for my drums, if i don't i'm being lazy,

Nice work, some suggestions..

I think this piece is great, and has room for much potential development. I can hear the the "distant" sound effect and the basic kick sound from FL. The compression you have put on the distant sound is an excellent use of compression, but the reverb needs to be gated to cut out in some parts from muddening the parts following it too much. The hi-hat is also noticeable, that it is from the basic FL library. I recommend that you should get a new sample library, either buying one or getting a free download from some website. I think the bass needs to be changed to a heavyier thick "wubbing" sound.

Don't take the criticism too harshly now, the wasp and TB303 sounds you have are great, the EQ and compression just need to be pushed up one more level, keep up the great work!

SolusLunes responds:

Kay. That's not quite the basic kick from FL, I got a different sample :p

'Sa good idea to gate the sounds to keep them from bleeding over, I'll keep that in mind. Hihat... yeah... any suggestions?
Bass wubbing, sure, why not, I'll try that out.

Wasp- didn't use wasp :D
and TB303- also not used. :D

Most of those sounds I created in Sytrus , a 3xOsc, and Crystal.

Yeah, I needs my old sample library back- that much has become painufully apparent. I wants me reason back.

Nice work in terms of composition, but..

The composition itself (the arrangement of notes: melody and harmony), is great and I can feel the emotion brought through it. However the quality of the sound isn't. I'm not sure of what software you are using to make the song, but sounds need effects such as reverb, or chorus to help the sound shine. It sounds very MIDI like to my ear, and I think that the software maybe just some soundcard based MIDI sequencer, if not, just try adding orchestral strings to layer it with some ambience.

I do however, like where the notes go quicker, it sounds nice :)

MusicalRocky responds:

First of all: I appreciate you taking the time to review.

I. The only sounds available to me are MIDI sounds, provided by my MIDI soundcard. You must understand this.

II. I don't know how to use any of those fancy effects like reverb, chorus, or anything, but that is only because I've never had the need to. Without any VST's, these things are pretty worthless to me.

III. I understand that you realized the quality of the composition, but I feel that it was a bit harsh to base the majority of your vote on the actual sonic quality. I'd much rather listen to a great song with MIDI sounds than a crappy song performed by real musicians (a.k.a. an orchestra) any day.

Again, thanks, but I enjoy reviews because I like to help work upon my composition skills. I don't need anyone's help to see that MIDI sounds aren't great (no offense).

Best regards,

Rocky

Decent song

Honestly, I think the horn like synths detract from the whole great housey beat, but the ambient synth fx are great. What I think could have helped is the scratching parts, maybe add some extra scrathes and whips in between. It gets a bit repetive (you are using that same 2 note melody and the other 4 note melody, but the breaks and dropping and adding of the bass keeps the interest.

A personal opinion on the bass: I think you could have added a compressor on to the bass to give it more "punch" that would have been awesome.

However, I like the drum programming you have done, the drum samples chosen were good, especially the snares :)

beatmasterJAG responds:

Thanks for your review!

In all terms this iconic for my style, I guess.

The leading snare is a simple, tweaked 909 sample accompinied by a hint of some other snares to add punch and flavor.

:)

hehe

HAHAHA nice lyrics if people can consider it lyrics, but it made me laugh, and your beats are pretty good, chaotic drum patterns that sound good! but the overused snares need to be EQ'd a little or use a compressor

TVs-Slayer responds:

Eh, it was supposed to be harsh, but I don't know my limits.
