Very nice DnB

This is a nice dark piece. I like those ambient sounds in the back, and the entire arrangement of subtle dissonance works well. Also the subtle changes in the percussion really do go well, and the section where the beat changes adds really nice contrast. It's a little like Hideyuki Fukasawa sounding, but a bit Hive like. Keep up the good work :)

Spikrodd responds:

i have no clue who the first person is, but i do love my hive! :D im surprised it's doing so well as it is. sucks someone 0'ed it. oh well.
3 days and 60+ dLs, why should i complain!?

Nice Nice Nice!

This is a nice groovy piece! And it's live! I really like that bassline you have playing under the percussion and hi synth. Keep making awesome beats! :)

RyanChampion responds:

Thank you for the review. Yes it was recorded live, the track playing in FL Studio, used my Edirol PCR50 controlling the little synth and the filters.

Cheers :)

Cool drums

I'm not gonna praise or despise you for making this, since I don't know any sonic songs. But what I do have to say, is that it definitely has some clever percussion work in it, and a nice rounded lead synth. There is also some subtle synth work going on in the back, and the layering really helps. There's also some good mastering work done here, no odd sharply loud drums or anything. However, it does get repetitive at times. This song definitely has that bassline that really drives the song, good work!

Maahes responds:

Everyone's always telling me how repetitive I am, so I'll work on that, and I might not submit for a while.

Very epic and heroic orchestral piece

I like the intro, it's really building up the emotion. The chord progression really helps the song. The sounds are very clear. I'd have to say the boom (timpani?) in the beginning could have had more reverb to it. Also the syncopated bass guitar could have been in tempo, not syncopated, but maybe that's just me. I still would have to say (even though you're on the FL collab team :p), that this is one damn epic song! Can't wait to hear the FL team's mix!

MaestroRage responds:

yeah, this piece wasn't fully completed to be honest, however I had to move on to other projects, and as time went by, it seemed less and less likely that I would return to it. So it came up here.

The bass guitar was in tempo as far as I can tell, the attack on it are different from the other instruments so I think it may sound like it starts off sooner then the others.

As for the team mix, I don't know how well that will go to be honest, as I won't be able to use any of my big VST's. Some of which are around 35 gigs large!

I appreciate the review, thank you for that. I'm glad you liked it!

Avant garde techno style

Again, this is has a very unique sound, especially the intro and the way it brings in the pads, I like :) and also, hats, and other subtle hi EQ effects go well with building to the main synth lines in the track. The overall sound quality and mastering is very good, just till near the end, and I do think that the main synth line (saw synth) has too much of a release on it (on the adsr) but when the bass and kick enter.. does it ever sound nice! But just lower the relase time next time. Like the last reviewer, the end part does sound dissonant. But all in all, this is another example of great synth building. Keep up your unique style!

Yes indeed it was a Saw ^^ "Gold Saw" To be technical, I see what you mean about the end, and i'm sure what you mean release.. Do you mean the way it cuts off the sound? =\ Anyway, Thanx for review ^^

Fresh new sounds coming from DJ Comet-Typhoon

The drum beat is definitely energetic, and there's a definite flavour to it. The vocals are hard to understand what they're saying, but it syncs nicely well with the beat (scratching). Also, that is one dirty saw bass synth you have got going there. But I have to say the stab hit sound doesn't go well when there is a whole bunch of instruments playing in the track, and I have to say the driving synth the goes on playing the same note for a few bars needs to have a filter effect on it or something to add interest to it. Also there isn't much variation to the structure of the song other than the adding or removal of synths. I can hear some preset FL samples, but I don't know if you're trying to be serious or just fooling around, but the result is one fresh sounding break beat track. The definite best parts of this track is its unique synth sounds and funky beat programming!

I was screwing around so there's a good handful of FL samples laying around in this

Nice classical song

It's a nice piece, very nice string work, I'm not sure if it is actual recordings of violin, or synthesized/sampled sounds, but the actual compositions are very well planned out. I like the diverse use of the other instruments of the orchestra, but the timpani is almost the only percussion that shows up, and almost too sparsely. Also, I would have to say the volume level of the brass instruments hurt the song, because it drowns out the strings, and at one part is way too loud compared to the rest of the track. The melodic and harmonic planning of the brass instruments were well done as well. You have great potential in this genre, and I would enjoy to see more of these works.

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey. That would be a synthetic violin lol. It's a very nice sample though. Yeah, timp is the only percussion throughout. Whenever I use percussion, I don't add them as a means to give the song a rhythm. I want them to be a voice of their own, giving the song some color. If I put the timpani in some of the other places where I had left it out, it just wouldn't have fit, nor would other percussion. Yeah, sorry about the trumpet volume :( That's not how I wrote it. I didn't know how to fix it with the mp3. I assume the part where it was way too loud was near the end when it has the main theme. (That was quite loud.)

I'm glad you thought I did a good melodic/harmonic job in the brass. I'm still quite new to brass. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the really nice review.

Soothing, calm track

Although I have not heard the "original" Endless Space yet, I have to say this is a really soothing track, the synth work is masterfully done. I can feel some "spacey" aura, just spinning away in some empty galaxy, but I must say the pad is a little thin in some parts, and I heard a dissonance chord somewhere in the track. Also the entry of the second lead synth goes well in harmony with the first, and the drop in the first synth is very calming. However, I think all that is left to do is to make the hi-hats a bit lighter and have more reverb to it. Also I think the second synth could benefit from a reverb and delay.

A well done track I must say.

Can't believe I didn't respond to the first review for this song :p

Sure, it needs a bit of work, and that would make it just that little bit shinier, but I'm happy with it as it is. :D

Euro style !!

Very good selection and mastering of the drum samples, very suiting to the song. Overall, very good filtering effects, and bass work. The high pitched sliding synth is very nice too.

I also noticed that most of the melody is monophonic, and I think it would benefit from some polyphony with the synths. However the shuffle you put on it gives the tune some interest.

Erectronik, heil Austria lol

DJ-Ravecore responds:

I tried to add another NES synth in, set the same melody one octave higher! But it didn't sound good. That's why.

Thx 4 ya review!

(Heil Austria WTF?) DUDE!!! >:)

Very epic and glorious

This track is definitely quality work. Very fitting for an wide open world online game (www.escalation-online.com), and very diverse tones and timbres in the sound. The chord sequences and melody themselves are definitely heroic, especially when the choir rises and drops, crossfaded or takenover by a higher pitched or more intense instrument; causing an even more epic sounding section each time. The only one thing that may need to be fixed may be the bongo-like drum loop going on in the back, it may need a lower pitch or higher bass frequencies, but it mostly needs some more variations, such as near new sections, there should a be a drum filler. However near the end, timpanis are added to add some variation, but not enough.

The end result is still a very well done and beautifully composed track.

MaestroRage responds:

a well thought out review, thank you for your honest feedback. Originally this song was planned with a complete rehaul on the percussional side, I was going to add snares and make it a more military feel, but sadly halfway into that the song file got corrupted and all I had left was this version. No way was I going to try and recreate the whole thing again so with a somewhat heavy heart this had to do. It's still a pretty decent copy, the only thing it's missing in my eyes, is as you stated, a more varied bongo/congo drum hit, with a more varied timpini beat.

Thank you for the review Le-Best, i'm glad you enjoyed it ^^.
